Concept Statement and Diagram

I arrived at my concept of “acclimate” after a study of all the transformations that occur on and around the site next to the Children’s Museum. The mostly commercial neighborhood around the site transforms on nights and weekends. During work hours, the area is bustling with working professionals and tourists visiting the local museums, but after about 6:00 PM and on the weekends it becomes a ghost town. This idea of a constant transformation led me to design a node would adapt to the continuous changes to the site and its users. How the node would acclimate was based on a study of the Fort Point Channel bridges. Three of the four bridges were at one time operable, allowing large shipping vessels to go in and out of the channel. Each one of the bridges transforms differently, either by spinning, folding or sliding. Each of these moving methods were incorporated into the physical transformations of the node.
